Early or late injectors will work fine but one type has different style connectors and requires splicing.īut Idoubt even a really heavily moded NA will require any upgrade at all, and if you find your self running out of fuel a pump and / or regulator should be first up. Upgrade injectors are common for the FS as they use common bosch style top feed injectors, the most common step up are the 1G GT injectors. Iwould suggest carefull testing of the car stock then with the intact millenia sensor (it may not even run) then the FS sensor in the Milli housing.Ī wide band would be critical here even for a NA motor. It might not be enough to endanger a NA motor but then if that were so it likely wouldnt offer much in gains either. Since you are increasing the ammount of air able to enter the motor but the sampling orifice is the same the reading sent to the computer will be different from what is actualy being flowed effectively leaning the motor out. Other options are limited to regrinds starting at around $500 a set.įor the MAF the Millenia housing is larger and will fit the FS sensor (the sensors are likely calibrated differently as they have different part numbers) but there is doubt that this would work well or even at all. Oh and you cant just swap the upper or lower portions as your stock manifold is one pieceĪs far as cams the only oe cams that are upgrades are the FP 1.8L cams or the mazda performance cams, both of those options only apply to the intake though cause neither have the distributor gear machined. Hooking the VICS up is simple enough with a window switch, the OEM method can change the opening/closing based on RPM and load also but the difference would be small.Īs far as I know all the FS throttlebodies are the same size, I dont know of any simple method to instal a larger bore tb and besides I doubt it'll make any difference even with lots of boltons. The throttlebody is oriented differently btw so re routing the intake ducting is needed. Sadly the later 626s dont have this manifold. Well all the protege 2.0s had the vics manifold, I see them all the time in local yards and at work. My exhaust is already done with headers through 2.5 and a single muffler with dual tips. This ideally with my other upgrades should put me in the high 100whp's right? I do not plan on turboing I eventually want to put high compression pistons and build up internals, flywheel etc. I would install the cams before the manifold. My idea would be to run from the cone and move towards the internals, as i buy parts. I believe that is the major things i am looking at doing. Questions: If i run a intake manifold from a fsze (protege5, etc), upgrade the intake and exhaust cams, what throttle body can i run? is the bore on a fsze larger than the fsde? That all being said, should i repipe the MAF? (I have seen aem dry flow kits with a maf relocation kit, I would fab one to a larger pipe) What about bigger cc injectors? are the ones from the 626 bigger on the 4 cylinder? And if i buy the intake manifold do i need upper and lower or just one of them? That should fix my air temp quality and keep me from worrying about puddles (the engine bay splash guards are missing as well). The guy i bought the car from piped the cone behind the radiator exhaust fan! I'm gonna do a reroute to behind my driverside headlight and in the process scoop my hood near there and relocate my battery. That being said I wanted to upgrade the intake system on my car. I AM ONLY in the looking for information stage. That being said I am looking to upgrade some parts on my engine. I know there is some really confusing stuff concerning the VCIS on our i4's. I know the Mazdaspeeed protege/protge5 and mp3, have an fs based 4 cylinder. Ok so i have read the interchangeable parts forum (the first page at least.)
